The Beginning

In 1987, a group of Omega Men of the Theta Alpha Chapter of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity saw the need to offer financial assistance to youth and families in the Dallas Metroplex. Theta Alpha Foundation, a Texas nonprofit corporation chartered on May 15, 1987, is a 501©(3)-community service organization. The Foundation became operative June 1989.Theta Alpha is a manifestation of a desire to find an appropriate conduit for active philanthropic support of deserving community-based projects. Although Foundation funds are generally targeted to the minority and disadvantaged communities, the Foundation Board of Directors seeks to assist in as many community projects as funds allow. TheBoard of Directors manages the affairs of the organization and the Corporation has no members. The foundation maintains an office at 2413 Martin Luther King Blvd. in Dallas, Texas 75215

Our Mission

The Theta Alpha Foundation, a Texas non-profit (501(c)3), that has existed since 1987 to provide active philanthropic support of deserving community-based projects. The Foundations’ mission is to provide educational opportunities to deserving minority and disadvantaged youth and community uplift, as well as to provide opportunities for increased African American involvement in the arts; and to encourage programs of regular physical activity that involve youth and at-risk adults.

More than ten organizations and an endless number of youth have benefited from the financial support provided in scholarships, training and development programs. These special programs provide financial assistance to our future leaders and community needs:

Restricted gifts designated by the Foundation Board are Lifetime membership Funds and Endowed Scholarship. Only earnings from these funds are available for these projects.

Non-restricted gifts are used as directed by the Foundation Board to meet financial obligations. Funds contributed are tax deductible under provisions of IRS Code 501 ©3 and are accepted not only from organization members, but also individuals or businesses that want to support the foundation
